A former Boston Ballet principal dancer and her husband are accused of rape in a sexual abuse lawsuit filed in Nevada federal court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs, who join five other Boston Ballet dancers with similar allegations, experienced numerous instances of sexual assault, rape, and abuse. The assaults are alleged to have taken place when the plaintiffs were minors. The lawsuit further describes “a disturbing pattern of manipulation leading to sexual assault” where threats, intimidation, and the pretense that the defendants would help dancers with their careers in exchange for sexual acts. One dancer, who was a minor at the time, was allegedly assaulted while under the care of the defendants in “a room that had a mattress on the floor and an arsenal of guns hanging on the wall,” according to the complaint.
